Ukraine’s Drone Strike Damages Over 40 Russian Aircraft — White House Not Notified

Massive Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Russian Airbases — Over 40 Aircraft Damaged

According to UNIAN, over 40 Russian aircraft — including strategic missile-carrying bombers — were reportedly destroyed or seriously damaged in a powerful overnight drone strike launched by Ukraine. Military sources indicate the targets included key airbases used for launching cruise missile attacks against Ukrainian territory.

However, defense analysts caution that verifying the full scale of the damage will be possible only after new satellite imagery becomes available. The strike, if confirmed, would mark one of the most significant Ukrainian offensives against Russian air power since the full-scale invasion began.

White House Not Briefed in Advance

In a development reported by CBS News, the Trump administration was reportedly not informed about Ukraine’s intent to carry out a large-scale strike against Russian strategic aviation facilities.

“Sources within the administration told CBS News on Sunday that the White House was unaware this was going to happen,” the report said. U.S. officials declined to comment publicly, reflecting possible tension between Ukraine’s increasing operational independence and Washington’s diplomatic balancing act.

What This Means Strategically

The attack highlights Kyiv’s growing long-range strike capability and signals a potential shift in Ukraine’s military doctrine — from defensive to increasingly proactive and preemptive operations targeting high-value military infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.

While Russia has yet to officially confirm the extent of the damage, pro-Kremlin sources have acknowledged “limited losses.” Independent verification remains pending.
